2017 UCA/UDA National Championship Central
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of New Mexico spirit program will be heading to the 2017 UCA and UDA College National Cheer and Dance Championships being held this weekend, Jan. 13-15, in Orlando, Fla. Nationals will feature college and universities from across the country. UNM cheerleaders will compete in the Division IA Cheer and the Division IA jazz dance competition.
First-year head coach Madison Baumann is excited about the opportunity for the program and the University.
“So proud of our spirit program and the hard work that they have put in this season ,” said Baumann. “They have done a great job at games and out in the community. Now it is their time to show what they are really capable of.”
The Lobos Dancers will be the first to compete over the weekend as they will take the floor at 11:39 a.m. MT on Saturday. The coed cheerleaders will compete in the semifinals at 3:33 p.m. MT on Saturday.

The Lobo spirit program is already off to a great start. Both teams received a perfect score on the crowd highlight portion of the competition.
The Spirit program puts in many hours over the course of the year with practice, UNM games, as well as getting ready for national competitions. They also put in many hours in community service, collecting over 1,500 every year.
