MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Jhurell Pressley didn’t get drafted on Saturday, but he’s going to get his chance to chase his NFL dream as he signed an undrafted free agent contract with the Minnesota Vikings.
Pressley finished his career seventh in career rushing yards at UNM with 2,725 yards and his 35 rushing touchdowns was second all-time in UNM history, and seventh in Mountain West history. Pressley scored 11 touchdowns last season and he led UNM in scoring. He had nine career 100-yard rushing games, and he recorded a 1,000-yard season in 2015 with 1,083 yards. He had 908 last season.
The Vikings look to be a solid landing spot for Pressley, as Minnesota did not draft a running back in 2016, and they have just three running backs on the roster in Adrian Peterson, a 10-year veteran, Matt Asiata (Toledo) and Jerick McKinnon (Georgia Southern).
Last season New Mexico had for former players in the NFL in Glover Quin (Detroit), Byron Bell (Tennessee), Dillon Farrell (now with the New York Giants) and SaQwan Edwards (Oakland).
