COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – University of New Mexico men’s basketball players Elijah Brown and Tim Williams have been selected as All-Mountain West Conference First Team honorees in the media poll, released Sunday. Brown was also selected by the media as the league’s Newcomer of the Year.

In his first season with the Lobos, Brown has led New Mexico in scoring with 21.5 points per game. At 668 points scored this season, Brown is in range of becoming the fourth Lobo ever to score 700+ points in a season. He is one of the nation’s leading free throw shooters, draining 207 of 244 attempts for an 84 percent free throw mark. He also leads the team with 33 steals and ranks second with 98 assists.

Williams, a fellow Newcomer of the Year candidate, is the Lobos’ leading rebounder and most efficient shooter. Williams leads the MW at 61 percent shooting, 210-for-344, and is in line to become the third Lobo ever to shoot 60 percent or better with over 300 attempts in a season. He averages 17 points per game and a team-best 7.4 boards per contest, over two of which come on the offensive end per game.

The coaches will have their Mountain West postseason award selections announced Tuesday. The fourth-seeded Lobos are set to face Nevada Thursday in the Mountain West Conference Quarterfinals at 2:30 p.m. PST/3:30 p.m. MST.
