ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of New Mexico softball team will face a tough test this weekend as the Lobos travel to the Easton Tournament, hosted by Cal State Fullerton. The games this weekend will be broadcasted on FloSoftball. Fans can access the games here but with a paid subscription.

Arkansas: ARK leads 1-0 (last meeting – Lobos fell 2-1 to Arkansas 2/19/16)
Alabama: ALA leads 3-0 (last meeting – Lobos fell 9-1 in five innings 2/15/14)
Nebraska: NEB leads 8-7 (last meeting – Lobos fell 11-0 in five innings 2/10/13)
DePaul: Series Tied 2-2 (last meeting – Lobos won 4-1 3/18/11)
Cal State Fullerton: CSF leads 12-5 (last meeting – Lobos won 5-4 2/24/12)
The Lobos will take on two nationally ranked opponents in No. 4/6 Alabama and No. RV/23 Nebraska. The Lobos have faced those two teams in recent years but haven’t had much success falling in five innings in the last meetings with the Crimson Tide and the Huskers.
The Lobos open the weekend up with Arkansas who they have previously played this season but fell 2-1 in a close pitching duel. Other opponents that the Lobos haven’t faced in a couple seasons will be DePaul and tournament host Cal State Fullerton.
New Mexico heads into the tournament with a 13-8 overall record and are coming off a doubleheader sweep of UTEP this week. On Tuesday, the Lobos took down the Miners 8-2 in game one and 7-6 in game two. The Lobos tallied 24 hits on the day and senior Mariah Rimmer led the Lobos, going 5-for-8 at the plate with four runs scored, two RBIs, two doubles and a home run.
Heading into the weekend, the Lobos have a .315 batting average. They are getting on base 40 percent of the time with a .432 slugging percentage. Rimmer leads the team with a .431 average and a .649 slugging percentage.
In the circle, UNM has a 4.38 earned run average and are holding its opponents to a .336 batting average. Senior Lauren Soles leads the team with a 2.57 earned run average. In 32.2 innings, she has struck out 69 batters and allowed 14 runs, 12 earned, off 38 hits. She also holds her opponents to the lowest batting average on the pitching staff of .284.
Freshman Colette Robert leads the team with a 7-3 record. She has a team-best of 33 strikeouts in 58.1 innings. She has allowed 43 runs, 37 earned, off 85 hits. She has just walked nine batters in 12 appearances.
