Lobos Host SMU in Pit 50 Celebration Saturday

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico women’s basketball team (2-4) will look to break its four-game slump in a tough matchup Saturday against the visiting SMU Mustangs (5-2). The teams will tip off at 1 p.m. on Saturday at WisePies Arena – The Pit for the 50th anniversary of The Pit celebration.

In honor of the special event, which will honor the rich history of the iconic arena, the venue will be chock full of giveaways, alumni, special tributes and more! In addition, UNM will be honoring the ticket price from the original season of The Pit – just $2. Fans can purchase Pit 50 $2 tickets in advance or on Saturday. The Coaches:
Both coaches for Saturday’s match are in their first season at their respective institutions. The Lobos are led by head coach Mike Bradbury in his first season with the Lobos, his 10th season overall. Bradbury posts a career record of 180-121 and is 2-4 at the helm of the Lobos.

SMU is coached by Travis Mays in his first season after being an associate head coach at Texas for the past four seasons. He has guided the Mustangs to an early record of 5-2 heading into Saturday.

Series History:
The Lobos are 3-2 over the SMU Mustangs in program history including a 63-58 victory last season on Dec. 5 2015.
