ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico volleyball program and head coach Jeff Nelson have announced the schedule for the 2017 slate of Lobo Volleyball Summer Camps.
The Lobos will be offering nine total camp sessions this year, including four beach volleyball camps in June and five court volleyball camps during June and July. Mail-in registration and online registration for all camps is now open.
The 2017 schedule of camps opens with the Lobos’ beach volleyball camps. For the second straight year, UNM is offering two camps, with two sessions for both camps.
The first session of beach volleyball camps features a Little Lobos Beach Clinic and Individual Skills Academy on June 12-13. The second session for both camps is June 17-18.
The location for the beach volleyball camps is Lucky 66 Bowl & Volleyball on 4th Street.
The camps will move indoors to Johnson Center on the main campus of UNM starting June 19 with the Little Lobo Camp and Individual Skills Camp on June 19-23.
The Little Lobo Camp is offered to all children that are entering kindergarten through 5th grade, while the individual skills camp that is available to all children entering 5th through 8th grade. Players will receive small group instruction and opportunities to utilize their skills in competitive settings.
In July, UNM will host a camp for setters and liberos on July 9-11. Setters will be trained in every aspect of setting, from technique to strategy. Liberos will be taken through several series of ball control drills and proper technique in serve-receive and defense.
Following that, the Lobos will host an advanced skills camp from July 12-15 for girls entering 7th grade through 12th grade. Players of all levels can learn and improve their skills in small groups and gain confidence in competitive play.
The final camp of the summer is the Cherry & Silver Team Tournament, which will be held July 21-23.
