ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — If the opening Intralot Team Announcement and Press Conference was any indication, it’s going to be a fun week.
With both administrations and head coaches in attendance, Gildan New Mexico Bowl Executive Director Jeff Siembieda welcomed sponsors, fans and staffs to the 11th Annual game. With certainly the most unique trophy in all of the college bowl landscape, both head coaches and athletic directors thanked the selection committees and sponsors.
The opening press conference is the only main bowl event for the week, with the majority of events starting on Wednesday of next week with the team arrivals and the welcome dinner at The Main Event in Albuquerque. Thursday will bring post-practice visits to the UNM Children’s hospital and a team dinner and game night at the Albuquerque Convention Center. Friday is a big one for fans as well as players as the Old Town Plaza Pep Rally and Battle of the Bands will take place at 4 p.m. All Lobo fans are encouraged to attend to hear Coach Davie and the captains speak at the rally.
Earlier on Friday will be the pregame press conference that will be streamed live on the Gildan New Mexico Facebook page. Along with Coach Davie, Dakota Cox and Cole Gautsche will represent UNM at the press conference. The teams and fans will then enjoy the Isleta Resort & Casino Kickoff Luncheon with special guest speaker, Pro Football Hall of Fame member Jim Kelly.
