Beaulieu C-USA Defensive Player of the Week

IRVING, TEXAS — Junior Jason Beaulieu of The University of New Mexico men’s soccer team has been tabbed Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week this week on the heels of two shutouts in the Lobos’ last three games. The honor marks Beaulieu’s first of the season, third of his career.

Beaulieu collected his sixth shutout of the season on Friday night in the Lobos’ 2-0 victory over Old Dominion to conclude conference play and keep UNM undefeated at home in 2016. In Friday’s match, Beaulieu helped direct a back line that allowed just two shots on goal and came up with two key saves in the match en route to the victory. 

With his sixth shutout of the season, Beaulieu now posts 15 shutouts in his career to tie for fourth all-time in Lobo history. He has registered an outstanding 0.74 goals against average this season and a 0.797 save percentage. In addition, Beaulieu ranks third in the league in goals against average and shutouts per game (.353).

The Lobos have completed regular-season play and will now tackle the Conference USA Tournament bracket starting Wednesday, Nov. 9 against No. 12 Kentucky in Game 1 at 12 p.m. Stay tuned to GoLobos.com for details on following the game live.
