New Mexico Game Notes | Boise State Game Notes
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Sitting at 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the Mountain West, the Lobos now face its toughest two-game stretch of the season with a pair of undefeated foes on the horizon in back-to-back weeks. That stretch starts with Friday Night Lights as The University of New Mexico Lobos take on the No. 19 Boise State Broncos at University Stadium at 7:05 p.m. in a game shown on CBS Sports Network.
There once again are plenty of great promotions along with the game. The first 5,000 fans through the gates will receive Lobo logo car magnets, courtesy of Elite 25 Realtors. There will be exit giveaways from Rita’s and Hooters, and the 2016-17 men’s basketball team will be recognized in the first half. In addition, it’s YAFL Night, with YAFL teams taking the field at halftime.
Once again, the Lobo Club will host a 50-50 raffle, and once again, there will be more prizes to be won. After the winner of the 50-50 raffle is drawn, six other tickets will be drawn, Two lucky fans will win Weekend getaways at Heritage Hotels ($500), two fans will receive $100 gift cards from Western Refinery, and two fans will receive $200 credit at Enterprise Rent-A-Car. And if you are a student without a lot of cash for a 50-50 raffle? UNM Athletics has those folks covered as well, as students can sign up at this link: https://groupmatics.events/#/event/studentgiveaway, to enter to win either two $500 credits for books from the UNM Bookstore, or one of two $500 gift cards from Southwest Airlines.
For those that think … well, no one wins those things … check this out.

The game will feature a pair of teams that have played several barnburners in recent years. Two years ago at University Stadium, the Lobos rushed for 505 yards but were on the wrong end of a controversial replay review that gave the ball back to Boise State as UNM was driving for the winning touchdown. Last year, the Lobo defense faced an onslaught of 115 plays by Boise State, but they allowed just 24 points and got the final stop needed when Markel Byrd tackled Austin Cotrell at the 4-yard line to preserve a 31-24 win and clinch UNM’s bowl eligibility. Now, Boise State is looking to continue its climb in the national polls, sitting at No. 19 in both.
