LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Due to lightning storms, the second round at the Boulder Creek Golf Club was postponed to Tuesday, giving the University of New Mexico women’s golf team a chance to regroup for the final round at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showcase.
The Lobos waited during a four-hour delay before the officials made the decision to postpone the round because the storm was heading directly towards the course. With the unideal weather, the tournament will now be shortened from 54 holes to 36 with a shotgun start on Tuesday.
Currently the team is sitting in 19th after the first round in Las Vegas. UNM’s Eva Saulnier and Darian Zachek both came out with a total score of 73, totaling a single birdie each. Ingrid Gutierrez completed the front nine with a 3-over-par 75 and Emma Edwards trailed close behind with a total score of 78 after being 3-over-par in both nines. Alexandra Moisand struggled with three double bogeys in the front nine and completed the round with a score of 79.
Manon Molle’ and Katerina Jaeger are competing as individuals for the Lobos and Molle’ finished 1-over-par 73 and Jaeger followed with being 3-over-par 75.
The final round will start promptly at 8 a.m. [PT] to close out the showcase.
