ORLANDO, Fla. —
After day two of the Tavistock Collegiate Invitational, the University of New Mexico men’s golf team remains tied for 12th place with a team score of 27-over 603 (298-305).

The day saw Andre Bevins move into position as the leading Lobo. On the day Bevins posted a 2-over 74, and now sits tied for 27th at 2-over 146 (72-74). The 2-over score was UNM’s best of the day. Through 36 holes of competition, Bevins is carrying the fourth lowest par-4 scoring average in the field with a mark of 3.95.

Andre Garcia (71-77) follows close behind in a four way tie for 37th, at 4-over 148 overall. On the day, Garcia managed to tally 12 pars, however a mistake on the 443 yard par-4 ninth, his final hole of the day, cost him a lower score. Despite his struggles on the day, Garcia is still carrying the third lowest par-3 scoring average in the field at 2.88.

Sophomore Sean Carlon (77-76-153) continued acting as a stalwart for consistency through much of his round. His homeward nine was somewhat of a struggle however, and Carlon stumbled coming in to the clubhouse. With his closing struggles, Carlon sits in tied position at 9-over 153. For the tournament, Carlon is carrying an even-par par-5 scoring average, his struggles have come uncharacteristically on the par-4’s.

Rounding out the list of Lobo competitors is the tandem of Gustavo Morantes (78-80-158) and Samuel Kim (80-78-158) who both sit tied for 70th after the day’s action. Kim was managing his round fairly well through 17 holes, however on his closing hole, the par-4 ninthth, Kim posted a triple bogey and lost some ground on the field by days end. Morantes’ day was a struggle throughout, he was unable to tally a birdie and finished the day with three consecutive bogeys.

Florida continued to bolster its lead over the field on the day, posting an 11-under team score of 277. The Gators are currently at 16-under 560 overall and nine shots clear of third-ranked Vanderbilt. Purdue stumbled throughout on the day and now find themselves only one shot clear of charging North Carolina. Co-host North Florida dropped two spots on the day and now sits in fifth place overall.

In the medalist race, Texas Tech’s Hannes Ronneblad surrendered his overnight lead to the charging Alejandro Tosti. Tosti posted a mark of 7-under today, vaulting him to 9-under overall and two shots clear of Ronneblad’s mark of 7-under. The biggest mover of the day was Michael Feagles of Illinois who posted a 6-under 66 and jumped 46 spots up the leaderboard to finish the day in T16 at even-par 144.

The Lobos tee off tomorrow beginning at 7:15 a.m. MT.
