Volleyball Hosting “Lobos Love Pink” Match on Sunday

Volleyball vs. UNLVVolleyball vs. UNLV

The University of New Mexico volleyball team is holding its ninth-annual “Lobos Love Pink” match Sunday, October 15, as the Lobos host to Rio Grande Rival New Mexico State at 5 p.m. in Johnson Center.

The Lobos will wear pink jerseys in support of cancer awareness and will hold a silent auction and raffle benefiting the UNM Cancer Center. Fans are also encouraged to participate by wearing pink to the match.

“We’ve put together baskets to host a silent auction, as well as we have some awesome raffle items this year,” New Mexico director of operations Elsa Krieg said. “All the money that we raise goes to the Cancer Research Center to help support the cause for finding a cure for breast cancer.”

The silent auction features gift baskets with UNM gear, gift cards and other prizes, with all of the proceeds benefiting the UNM Cancer Center. New Mexico is also raffling off a Fitbit and signed team jerseys after the match.

“We would love to see everyone out there,” Krieg said. “Of course, wear your pink. It’s going to be a great game and they’ll be lots of great items. We’re looking for a lot of support for both our team and the cause that we’re playing for.”

Tickets to the match are $5 and UNM students get in free with a valid student ID.
