The Lobos – Manon Molle’, Ingrid Gutierrez, Alexandra Moisand, Darian Zachek, and Katerina Jaeger.
GREENVILLE, S.C. – The University of New Mexico women’s golf team finished the third and final round of the Lady Paladin Invitational on Sunday as 18th out of 20 teams with an overall team score of 911, 47-over par.
Ingrid Gutierrez led the Lobos with a score of 71, one-under par, in the final round. She totaled three birdies for the day and only two bogies. Gutierrez teed off first for the Lobos and set the tone for the day following her disqualification after an unsigned scorecard after Saturday’s second round.
Alexandra Moisand ended the third round with a score of 74, two-over par, after receiving one birdie in her first nine. Following Mosiand, Katerina Jaeger finished the final round with a score of 78, six-over par. Darian Zachek and Manon Molle’ finished out the third round for the Lobos both with scores of 79.
“It was definitely not our best effort,” UNM coach Jill Trujillo said. “The 16-shot penalty we took on the second round put us behind the eight ball and defeated us a bit.”
Despite starting in a tougher position, the Lobos headed into the third round with a positive outlook and finished out the 45th Annual Lady Paladin in a position showing that there are good things to come with the team.
“This team has a lot of fight and we’ll come back from this,” Trujillo adds to top off the team’s overall performance in Greenville.
The Lobos will take time off and head to the practice greens as their next tournament isn’t until October. They will head to the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational on Oct. 17 in Austin, Texas.
