GREENVILLE, S.C. – The University of New Mexico women’s golf team ended the second round with an overall score of 307 and a tie with Minnesota for 17th.
Alexandra Moisand continued to follow close behind yesterday’s leader, Ingrid Gutierrez, after her second round with a score of 73, one-over par. The first Lobo to tee off this morning was Katerina Jaeger who ended the second round with a score of 75, three-over par and two birdies to start out her first nine. Manon Molle’ and Darian Zachek both closed out the second round with respectable scores of 76 and 83.
“Everyone held tough as the heat index rose and the course dried out,” said head coach Jill Trujillo and despite the heat she added, “we managed ourselves much better today.”
Gutierrez did continue to lead the Lobos in the second round with a score of 67, five-under par, totaling six birdies to end the round. However, due to a mental error with her score card, Gutierrez was disqualified from this round leaving UNM in the 17th position.
“Unfortunately, Ingrid’s round was not counted because she did not sign her scorecard, which is a disqualification,” said Trujillo.
No. 20 Furman and No. 28 Texas are tied for first with the overall total score of 567. Illinois falls into third with a score of 572, four-under par. Finally, Augusta University holds fourth with an overall score of 578, two-over par.
The Lobos will look to move up in the standings, as they play the final round of the Lady Paladin Invitational. The Lobos will tee off at 6:45 a.m. (MST) with Gutierrez teeing off first.
