Millington Takes 31st in Men’s 10K at Olympics

RIO DE JANEIRO — University of New Mexico alumnus Ross Millington placed 31st in the finals of the men’s 10,000-meter run Saturday evening at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Competing in his first Olympics for Great Britain, Millington ran a time of 29 minutes, 14.95 seconds over the 25-lap race at the Olympic Stadium. The Stockport, England, native competed at New Mexico from 2009-12 and holds the UNM record in the 3,000-meter run. 

Fellow British runner Mo Farah repeated as the Olympic gold medalist, defending his 10K title from the 2016 Beijing Olympics in 27:05.17.
