ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – With basketball season quickly approaching, the University of New Mexico is now taking season ticket renewals for the 2016-17 Lobo Women’s Basketball season.
Current season ticket holders have until Aug. 11 to renew their season tickets for a new era of women’s basketball, under the direction of new head coach Mike Bradbury. Bradbury came to New Mexico after spending the last six years at Wright State, where he had the highest winning percentage in school history. He also led the Raiders to its first ever NCAA appearance in 2014 and two WNIT appearances in 2015 and 2016.
The Lobos will host 19 games inside WisePies Arena, including nine Mountain West games and three NCAA tournament teams in BYU, New Mexico State and Colorado State. The 2015-16 season marked the 17th consecutive year that the Lobos have been in the top 25 in attendance after finishing 11th in the nation and the best among the Mountain West.
New Mexico returns eight lettermen from last year’s squad, including First Team All-Mountain West selection Cherise Beynon and All-Mountain West Freshman Team selection Jaisa Nunn. Many new players will join the program, including three freshmen.
The Lobos are coming off a great year in the classroom. The team finished the spring with a 3.55 GPA which is the 31st straight semester with at least a 3.0. The Lobos have been nominated for the WBCA Top 25 Academic Honor Roll for their overall GPA.
