ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of New Mexico men’s basketball team once again stood out from the pack in the Mountain West academically, with a league-leading five players selected as Academic All-Mountain West.
The men’s basketball team’s honorees were: Dane Kuiper, Anthony Mathis, Cullen Neal, Devon Williams and Tim Williams. Head coach Craig Neal has now led the MW in Academic All-Mountain West honorees in all of his three seasons as head coach.
These honors come during a record year for the program academically. The Lobos set a program record of 3.15 team GPA in the fall, and finished the academic year with an unprecedented team GPA of 3.03.
To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better.
