ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The UNM Swimming & Diving program established a program-record grade point average in the Spring, 2016 semester, as the team earned a cumulative 3.66 GPA. That mark topped the previous program record of 3.61 in the Spring of 2014.
The 3.66 was higher than the department’s average GPA for female student-athletes of 3.54, which was the second-best in school history. Overall, the program has now had at least a 3.3 grade point average in each of the last 12 semesters. The team also has now had an amazing run of 43 consecutive semesters of at least a 3.0 GPA, a streak that dates back to the Spring of 1995, when most of the current team was not yet born.
Recently four members of the team, Marieke Foester, Emily McGill, Kaela McKee and Koko Shinada were named Scholar All-America by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).
