ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico cross country/track & field program continued to shine in the classroom as both the men’s and women’s teams finished the Spring 2016 semester with team GPAs above 3.45.
The UNM women tallied a team GPA of 3.60 this spring, giving the squad 18 straight semesters with at least a 3.3 GPA. The Lobo men also extended a streak, as their 3.46 GPA gave them eight straight semesters with at least a 3.2.
The program also earned two CoSIDA Academic All-America selections behind Alice Wright and Sophie Connor, making UNM one of just two schools since 2014 with at least six such selections (Nebraska, seven).
Wright, Connor and Yannick Roggatz were also named CoSIDA Academic All-District.
The Lobo women combined with the rest of the women’s sports at UNM for a 3.54 GPA, the second-best mark in program history. It’s the 12th-straight semester of at least a 3.4 by the combined women’s teams, as well.
On the men’s side, all of the male sports at UNM finished with a 3.13 combined GPA, which set a program record. It’s the ninth straight semester that all of the men’s sports earned at least a 3.0.
