ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The Lobo ski program couldn’t quite keep up the pace of last semester, but it’s hard to blame anyone. A semester after setting a school record with a 3.95 GPA on the women’s side, UNM’s women’s team once again was stellar academically, finishing the Spring, 2016 semester with a 3.83 grade point average, the second-best in the department.
Not to be outdone, the men’s ski team set the pace for all UNM men’s sports with a 3.62 GPA, its third straight semester with at least a 3.6, and its 34th straight semester with at least a 3.2 GPA. The women’s team has now had at least a 3.5 cumulative GPA in each of the last 18 semesters.
The Lobo ski team finished sixth at NCAAs this past year despite using seven NCAA rookies. Emilie Cedervärn was a First Team Academic All-America, and a two time All-American in Nordic (freestyle and classical).
