NORFOLK, Va. — The College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) has announced the Scholar All-America honorees for the 2015-16, and four Lobos were named honorable mention.  Mareike Foester, Emily McGill, Kaela McKee and Koko Shinada were all named to the squad.  The selections recognize students that have achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and have participated in their respective NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.

All four swimmers are expected be named to the Mountain West All-Academic squad as well as Mountain West Scholar-Athletes.  Shinada was named All-Mountain West in the 100-yard Butterfly.

“This type of recognition shows how much our team puts into their grades and school work, on top of their already demanding practice and competition schedule. A 3.66 GPA for the team is one of the highest in the country and shows the hard work our academic staff puts into our academic goals as well,” said interim head coach Jake Tapp.  “Academics is our top priority and this recognition proves the hard work we put into it. I’m very proud of our team.”

Overall, the CSCAA named 853 student-athletes to the First Team, and another 894 as honorable mention, crossing over every collegiate swimming and diving team in the country, regardless of division.

Shinada hails from Shibetsugun, Hokkaido, Japan, while Foester is from Buckenhof, Germany, McGill from Lower Hut, New Zealand, and McKee from Mill Creek, Washington
