ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — There is only one thing better than baseball camp, and that’s baseball camp with championship coaches. That’s exactly what young kids of all ages will get as the 2016 Lobo Baseball Camps get underway next week.
The main instructors for the various camps include Lobo head baseball coach Ray Birmingham, along with his staff of pitching coach Ken Jacome, assistant coach Buddy Gouldsmith and assistant coach Tony Cappuccilli.
The camps run at various times throughout the summer, starting with the full day Youth Camp for kids grades 1-8. The Youth Camp runs June 13-15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and costs $250. Children will learn the basic fundamentals of the game, and the camp, as all camps do, will take place at Santa Ana Star Field, the home of Lobo Baseball.
Other camps include the Showcase Camp on June 16 which starts at 1 p.m. and is $100 and is a camp designed for high school athletes.
July 6-8 has a half-day Youth Camp in the morning, from 9 a.m. to noon (ages 6-13, $150) and then a Hitting Camp in the afternoon from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. (ages 6-13, $150).
July 18-20 brings the highly popular All Skills Camp, which has two divisions, the Junior Division (6-13 year olds) and the Senior Division (High School players). That camp has three sessions, broken up into two hour blocks on pitching, defense and hitting. Cost is $60 for one session, $110 for two and $150 for all three. The All Skills Camp is very popular and well attended, and has something for everyone, with terrific individualized instruction and group activities.
