ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Former UNM springboard diver Gabby Han (Erickson) is set to compete at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials-Diving June 18-26 in Indianapolis, Ind.
The 2013 graduate competed in the Olympic Trials Final Qualification Event in San Antonio, Texas and finished with a score of 286.25, just 3.75 points shy from the qualifying score of 290. Han then submitted a petition to the USA Diving’s Committee for Competitive Excellence (CCE) and was approved. For the complete list of participants, click here.
Han competed under former UNM diving coach Abel Sanchez. In her final year as a Lobo, she was the 1-meter and 3-meter springboard Mountain West Championships along with Mountain West Diver of the Year honors. That year she also represented the Lobos at the NCAA Championships in Auburn, Ala., which ended the Lobos more than five-year drought for sending athletes to the NCAA’s. She ended up finishing 12th among the nation in the 3-meter springboard final.
Following Han’s graduation, she made appearances at various USA Diving National Championships along with the World Championship Trials.
A current volunteer assistant at the University of Michigan, Han is currently training under head Wolverines coach Mike Hilde.
