ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.-  The No. 52 ranked Lobo women’s golf team is gearing up for their appearance at the 2016 NCAA Baton Rouge Regional on May 5-7. The Lobos will tee off beginning at 8:24 a.m. on hole number 10. LSU will host the event at the par-72, 6,285-yard University Club in Baton Rouge, La. This is the 22nd postseason appearance for the Lobos in the last 24 years.

The regional will be a three-day, 54-hole tournament with 18 holes played each day. The top six teams and top two individuals (not on one of those six teams) will advance to the NCAA Women’s Golf Championship to be played May 20-25 at the Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Ore.

The New Mexico Lobos will enter the competition as the No. 13 seed and will face a challenging field over the next three days. The No. four-ranked Duke Blue Devils will enter the regional as the top seeded team after winning the LSU Tiger Classic in March on this very course. Duke has been the No. 1 seed in a regional event 10 times since 2003.

Rounding out the top five seeded teams is No. five-ranked Florida, No. 10 Arizona State, No. 13 Washington, and No. 20 Oregon. The Florida Gators enter the regional after a remarkable run of six tournament titles and a second place finish at SEC Championships.

Freshman, Darian Zachek, will tee off first for the Lobos tomorrow, May 5th, at 8:24 a.m. New Mexico will play round one in a group with the No. 14 and 15 seeds, Denver and Harvard.
