ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The 2016 Rio Grande Rivalry between the University of New Mexico baseball team (30-16) and the New Mexico State Aggies (25-18) will conclude with a Tuesday contest in Las Cruces, New Mexico at 6 p.m.
The Lobos enter the game looking to take a 3-1 season series win over the Aggies. The season series started rough for the Lobos, losing 9-6 in a neutral site game in El Paso, Texas. The next meeting took place in Roswell, New Mexico, where the Lobos took care of business, 3-2. Last week, the Lobos took a 2-1 series lead with a 10-4 win at home.
Although the Lobos will be in unfriendly confines, they have fared well against the Aggies on the road. Overall, the Lobos have a winning record in Las Cruces at 60-47.
The Lobos will be playing their final nonconference game of the season before looking to win a Mountain West Conference Championship. New Mexico holds a 1.5 game lead over Fresno State, along with a tiebreaker for the tournament No. 1 seed. The Lobos will return to conference play Friday in a road series at UNLV.
The game will broadcast live on ESPN Radio 101.7 The TEAM with Robert Portnoy on the call. The audio stream is also free at www.1017theteam.com. Fans can also watch the game live on ESPN3.
