Lobos Drop to 5th in Round 2 of MW Championships

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – After round two of the Mountain West Championships, the Lobos currently sit in fifth place amongst the nine conference teams. The Lobos had a difficult day on the course, tallying a team score of 312 (+24) for a two-day total score of 611 (+35).
 
“We made a lot of mistakes today,” admitted Lobo head coach Jill Trujillo. “Missed fairways will cost you here and there were no birdies falling.”
 
Extending their lead in round two, UNLV finished the day with a six-over score of 294. The Rebels are 13-over (589) thus far in the competition. Jumping up into second place is Fresno State with a total team score of 598 (+22) after shooting 13-over as a team in round two. Dropping into third place is the reigning champions, San Diego State, with a 24-over two round score of 600 (296-304).
 
Jumping up three spots to take the lead in the individual competition is UNLV’s Alexandra Kaui. Kaui carded a par-even score of 72 in round one and a one-under 71 in round two for a total score of 143 (-1). Colorado State’s Katrina Prendergast moved into second with a two round par-even score of 144.
 
New Mexico junior, Alexandra Moisand, continues to lead the Lobos but has dropped down to 21st place after carding an 81 (+9) in round two (72-81=153). Manon Molle’ and Darian Zachek are currently tied for 24th place with identical scores of 154 (+10). Ingrid Gutierrez and Eva Saulnier are tied for 27th place at 155 (+11).
 
The Lobos look to move up the leaderboard tomorrow in the final round of Championship competition.
