ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – New Mexico sophomore Ingrid Gutierrez has been named Mountain West Women’s Golfers of the Week for tournaments played from April 6-12.
This is the second MW golfer of the week/month accolade for Gutierrez this season. Gutierrez was also named Co-Golfer of the Month in October of 2015.
“Ingrid is a highly focused and motivated student-athlete,” said Lobo head coach Jill Trujillo. “We are proud of all her accomplishments on and off the golf course.”
A native of Cuautla, Mexico, Gutierrez spearheaded the Lobos’ eighth place finish at the Red Raider Invitational in Lubbock, Texas on Apr. 8th and 9th.
Gutierrez earned a 13th-place finish in the 98-golfer Red Raider field, carding a six-over score of 222 over three rounds of play. In addition to seven birdies, Gutierrez shot a single-round low score of 71 (-1) on the par 72, 6,541-yard Rawls Course in windy conditions.
Gutierrez is currently ranked No. 100 in the nation as an individual by GolfStat.
