Lubbock, Texas – After two round of play, the Lobos currently sit in ninth place with a total team score of 593 (+17). The Lobos carded a 300 (+12) in round one and a 293 (+5) in round two.
“It was very windy today, but the course was scorable,” said Lobo head coach Jill Trujillo. “We had some good individual rounds and came back a little bit in the second round.”
Leading the pack is No. 25 BYU with a two-round team score of 575 (-1). Purdue is close behind with a par-even 576, and the University of Kansas is in third at 577 (+1). Tournament host, No. 26 Texas Tech, is currently in fourth place with a score of 580 (+4), and Kansas State sits in sixth with a score of 585 (+9).
Commanding the individual competition is Yupaporn Kawinpakorn of the University of Kansas. Kawinpakorn carded a 71 in round one and a 66 in round two for a total score of 137 (-7). Kansas State’s Katherine Gravel-Coursol currently sits in second place after carding two identical 70 stroke rounds for a total score of 140 (-4). Anna Appert Lund of Purdue and Sarah Brown of Texas Tech are tied for third place with matching scores of 142 (-2).
Leading the Lobos is sophomore Ingrid Gutierrez with a two round score of 146 (+2). She shot a 75 in round one and a 71 in round two to put her tied for 15th place overall going into the final round. Gutierrez is currently ranked 100th in the nation by Golfstat. Alexandra Moisand is currently tied for 23rd place after shooting four-over on the day (76-72=148).
“We need to have all five play solid tomorrow to move up the leaderboard,” said Trujillo.
Round three will begin on Saturday, Apr. 9th at 9 a.m.
