ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – In the final stretch before the Mountain West Championships, the Lobos head to Napa, Calif. to compete in the 3rd Annual Silverado Showdown co-hosted by Oregon and Colorado. The three-day, 54 hole event will get underway Sunday morning (Apr. 3) at 7:45 a.m. PT at the Silverado Resort North Course (par 72, 6,206-yards).

The Lobos will compete against 17 other teams at the tournament including eight teams currently ranked in the Top 50 by Golfstat.

Oregon is the defending champion of the Silverado Showdown as the Ducks edged out Oregon State by one stroke a year ago to claim the title with a team score of 889 (+25). Lucia Gutierrez of California took home the 2015 individual medal with a three round card of 73-71-68–212 (-4).

After a difficult event at the Arizona Wildcat Invitational, the Lobos are eager to redeem themselves and prove that they are one of the best teams in the country.

“In Arizona we had a huge gap in our focus from the previous tournament, but all of our players work really hard to get to the level that they need to be,” said Lobo head coach Jill Trujillo. “I think we’ve worked through a lot of our hiccups in the last couple weeks so this should be a pretty fun tournament.”

This will be the Lobo’s third trip to the Silverado Showdown, so the course is nothing new to three of the competing Lobos. Junior, Manon Molle’ will play the course for the third time along with sophomores Alexandra Moisand and Ingrid Gutierrez who are set to take their second shot at the course.

“This tournament is going to be a challenge as a team as well as individually,” explained Alexandra Moisand. “The Silverado golf course is a long course and can be really tricky … we will need to keep our emotions steady and make smart shots.

The Lobos are scheduled to tee off on Sunday (Apr. 3) at the first and 10th holes at 7:45 a.m.
