Men’s, Women’s Tennis Host Conference Opponents

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.—The University of New Mexico men’s and women’s tennis teams each host a pair of conference matches this weekend.
 
Tomorrow, women’s tennis will have their first conference match against opponent Colorado State at 4 p.m. The Lobos are currently 7-6 in the season after a stretch of road matches. They are coming off a loss to UT Arlington and a win over North Texas. The Lobos are currently ranked No. 45 by ITA.
 
Colorado State is 3-9 in the season and are currently unranked. The are coming off five consecutive losses to face New Mexico.
 
The men’s team will take on Utah State Friday immediately following the women’s match. The Lobos are 13-11 and currently ranked No. 70 by ITA. They are coming off a pair of matches in Nevada against Montana and conference opponent UNLV. They finished 1-1 last weekend when they fell to UNLV, but came back to top Montana.
 
Utah State is ranked No. 58 by the latest ITA polls are 16-6 in the season. The Lobos previously defeated the Aggies when the faced them in the final match of the Mountain-Pacific Invitational. Utah State has recent wins over Idaho and No. 59 BYU.
 
Friday night’s tennis matches will be held at McKinnon Family Tennis Stadium south of Wise Pies Arena aka The Pit. There will also be free pizza for those in attendance.
 
Both Lobo teams will bounce back for another match on Sunday. The men’s team will take on conference opponent Boise State at 12 p.m. and the women’s team will follow with another conference match against Wyoming at 3 p.m.
