ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – University of New Mexico men’s basketball guard Elijah Brown has been named a member of the United State Basketball Writers Association All-District VIII team, as announced Tuesday.
Brown has led the Lobos in scoring this season and ranks second in the Mountain West Conference at 21.5 points per game. He’s scored efficiently all season, ranking seventh in the league in field goal shooting at 42.9 percent, despite taking well over 400 attempts this season. He’s also been the team’s second best distributor at 3.2 assists per game, also in the league’s top 10.
Brown, who was also a consensus All-MW First Teamer and Newcomer of the Year, joins Josh Adams and James Webb III as the three MW players recognized. USBWA District VIII consists of schools from Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, New Mexico, Colorado, Nevada and Montana.
Brown and the Lobos are set to face Nevada in the MW Tournament Quarterfinals Thursday at 2:30 p.m. PST/3:30 p.m. MST.
