ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – On Tuesday the Albuquerque Journal ran a terrific story about former Lobo Men’s Soccer star Oniel Fisher and his journey through soccer, which has led him to Seattle Sounders of the MLS. The Jamaica native, who has also earned playing time for his national team is currently preparing for his second season with the Sounders. Late last year he was named one of the best young players in the MLS.
Fisher, who was a second-round draft pick of the Sounders in 2015, played at UNM for two seasons (2013-14). He appeared in 39 games, including 34 starts, and recorded 11 points (four goals, three assists). Every one of his goals was a game-winner, including one against Penn State in the Sweet Sixteen in 2013.
