ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Registration for the University of New Mexico volleyball program’s 2016 Lobo Volleyball Summer Camps is now open.
To register, head to abcsportscamps.com/unmvb and fill out the online application or complete the application in the brochures linked at the top and mail it to the Lobo Volleyball Camps.
The Lobos are offering six camps this year, including two beach volleyball camps in June and four court volleyball camps during June and July in Johnson Center on the main campus of UNM.
UNM has also added beach volleyball camps for the first time, with the first two beach volleyball camps starting June 11-12 and the second on June 14-15. The location for the beach volleyball camps is Lucky 66 Bowl & Volleyball on 4th Street.
The camps will move indoors starting June 20 with the Little Lobo Camp and Individual Skills Camp on June 20-24.
The Little Lobo Camp is offered to all children that are entering kindergarten through 5th grade, while the individual skills camp that is available to all children entering 5th through 9th grade. Players will receive small group instruction and opportunities to utilize their skills in competitive settings.
In July, UNM will host a camp for setters and liberos on July 10-12. Setters will be trained in every aspect of setting, from technique to strategy. Liberos will be taken through several series of ball control drills and proper technique in serve-receive and defense.
Following that, the Lobos will host an advanced skills camp from July 13-16 for girls entering 7th grade through 12th grade. Players of all levels can learn and improve their skills in small groups and gain confidence in competitive play.
The final camp of the summer is the team camp, which will be held July 22-24.
