ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of New Mexico baseball program is pleased to announce its radio broadcast schedule for the 2016 season. ESPN Radio 101.7 The TEAM will carry the Lobo games for the seventh consecutive year. The schedule features a minimum of 30 games, including all 24 contests at Santa Ana Star Field.

“ESPN Radio 101.7 The TEAM is proud to be the broadcast partner for Coach Birmingham and the Lobos Baseball team,” said Joe O’Neill, president of The TEAM. “It is a program that has represented excellence on and off the field.”

The schedule begins with the home-opening series against Wichita State that goes from  Feb. 26-28 and continues the following weekend against Dallas Baptist, which hosted a regional in the NCAA Tournament last year. The TEAM will also broadcast a midweek series versus Texas Tech, as well as series featuring Mountain West foes San José State, UNLV, Fresno State, San Diego State and Nevada.

“We are thrilled to be on the radio once again this year,” UNM head coach Ray Birmingham said. “Joe O’Neill and The TEAM have done a great job in the past, and we look forward to their excellent work again this season.”

The TEAM will also carry UNM’s visits to Texas Tech on March 22 and New Mexico State on May 3. A neutral-site game against the Aggies on April 5 in Roswell, N.M. will also be featured. ESPN will also cover the Lobos’ three-game series at perennial power Arizona State April 29 – May 1. Any additional road game broadcasts will be determined later in the season.

UNM’s games in the Mountain West Tournament, which will take place at Santa Ana Star Field May 25-29, will also be included, as will any potential NCAA Tournament games.

Fans will be able to listen on their radios, online at www.golobos.com or worldwide on the TuneIn radio app.

Robert Portnoy, the Voice of the Lobos, will handle the majority of the games in his third season of calling Lobo Baseball. However, veteran broadcaster Scott Galetti will handle the play-by-play on games Portnoy misses due to his responsibilities with the Lobo men’s basketball team.

Radio sponsorship/partnership opportunities on ESPN Radio 101.7 for Lobo Baseball games are still available for the upcoming season. Call 505-239-4771 or e-mail joe@1017theteam.com for details.
