Spencer James Nelson Colorado Invitational Meet Notes
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Friday Night Lights was a great book about high school football in Texas, and it was eventually a great movie and television show. But Friday Night Lights takes on a different meaning for the Lobo ski team and the rest of the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association, as the opening race of the Spencer James Nelson Colorado Invitational will take play under the lights in Steamboat Springs.
The slalom race is the first of three races for the alpine squads, with the giant slalom on Saturday and the second and final RMISA giant slalom qualifier on Sunday. The Nordic squads will take to the track on Saturday with the freestyle races and then Sunday with the classical races. In the last meet, UNM swept the men’s and women’s classical races for the first time since 1999.
Alpine live timing will be available at www.ussalivetiming.com, and no live timing will be available for Nordic racing and race results will be posted at www.fourcornerstiming.com pretty fast after the race. @UNMSkiing and @RMISA will have live updates throughout the day.
