ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Former University of New Mexico men’s soccer player Justin Davis was named to the Best XI for the NASL in 2015. This is the second straight season the Minnesota United FC fullback has earned that honor. He led all NASL defenders in scoring with five goals and two assists in 29 matches this season for the Loons.
“Justin was a tremendous student, leader and player during his time here,” UNM head coach Jeremy Fishbein said, “and now he’s having a great professional career. He signed a long-term contract with Minnesota and will help them as they enter the MLS in 2017.”
Now in his fifth season with United, Davis was named to the NASL Team of the Week six times in 2015 as he helped the Loons advance to The Championship and a third-place league finish. He is Minnesota’s all-time minutes played leader and has eight goals and nine assists during his time there, continuing his scoring touch he developed during his time as a Lobo. From 2006-09 he scored 20 goals and assisted on 18 others in 77 career games for UNM.
