ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – University of New Mexico sophomore Carl Stajduhar was named a Louisville Slugger Preseason All-American Tuesday by Collegiate Baseball Newspaper. The Fort Collins, Colorado, native, who was one of a record three Freshmen All-Americans for the Lobos last year, was named to the third team.

Stajduhar was the only Lobo to play in every game last season and set a UNM freshman record for RBIs with 53, which also led the team. He also led the team in doubles (21), home runs (nine), hits (75), total bases (127), at bats (233), and he was second in runs (45) and slugging (.545). In addition to being named Freshman All-America, he was also named Second Team All-Mountain West and Second Team All-Region by ABCA.

The Lobos open their 2016 campaign at Hawai’i on Feb. 19. Their home schedule at Santa Ana Star Field begins the following week against Wichita State.
