Our fans have waited patiently for the rebuilding of our football program. It’s taken some time, but this team, our team, is bowl eligible and fighting for an opportunity to win the Mountain West. Our football team is going to its first Bowl Game since 2007, and its 12th overall Bowl Game, and we need and want you in the stands making a difference.
Many fans have taken a wait-and-see approach. Well the wait is over, because this team has played an exciting brand of football, with big plays on offense, defense and special teams. This team has beaten Utah State, who won 10 games and a Bowl game a year ago and Saturday night beat perennial league power Boise State. The Lobos are only the 5th team to win in 16 years on the infamous blue turf. This team deserves your attention. The wait-and-see is over, because our time is now.
Our fans over the years have given our basketball team one of the great home court advantages in all of college basketball. WisePies Arena can get deafening. It’s intimidating. It’s The Pit. Now it’s time to turn Branch Field into that same home field advantage, and it starts with you.
Against Hawai’i on Homecoming, our fans helped get two false start penalties on their last drive. Our fans got loud and forced Utah State into a false start penalty late in that win. Those were one-point wins. You can, and did make the difference. Now we need more of you.
We have great fans at The University of New Mexico. There are programs that would love to have our fans. We have 11,000 football season ticket holders. We had over 30,000 fans in the stands when we defeated New Mexico State. Now, we need you in the stands when we take on Colorado State on November 21 and Air Force on November 28. We’ve won five of our last six games at home. We are 6-5 in our last 11 Mountain West games. It’s this team’s time.
