Women’s Tennis Compete in Multiple Flight Finals

Tucson, Ariz.–  The University of New Mexico women’s tennis team finished the Wildcat Invitational today with two ladies competing in flight final matches. Andrea LeBlanc’s effort got her to the final match of her flight where she defeated Vivienne Kulicke of University of Texas at El Paso 7-5, 6-3. Ruth Copas also made it to the final match, but lost to Kyla Klier of Tulane University 7-5, 6-2.

Rachana Bhat also put up a singles win for the Lobos. She defeated Northern Arizona University’s Julia Schepp 6-2, 6-4.

In doubles play, Andrea LeBlanc and Sharon Coone made it to the final match of their flight, but fell short. They got second in their flight.
 
“Overall it was another solid weekend of tennis for us. We did an excellent job of focusing on the things we could control and I am very proud of this group,” said head coach Kelcy McKenna. “This week will give us a chance to recover and continue to improve as our team heads into regionals.”
 
The lady Lobos have two players still competing in the ITA All-American Regionals in California. The team will head to Las Vegas, Nevada on Oct. 14th for the USTA/ ITA Regionals.
