ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.—The University of New Mexico women’s tennis team took on the second day of the Lobo Invitational today. They finished the day with a sweep in singles play. So far this tournament, they have won all their singles matches.
Emily Olivier, Andrea LeBlanc, Ruth Copas, Sharon Coone, and Ludivine Burguiere all competed today in singles. They all won the first two sets of their matches to prevent it going all three sets.
Rachana Bhat also played in a singles match. She battled back to win the second set 6-1 after losing the first set 2-6. She won the match after her opponent had an injury in the third set.
In double’s play, Olivier and LeBlanc defeated Visscher and Wagenvoort of the University of Texas at El Paso 6-2. Burquiere and Coone also won their doubles match against their opponents from UTEP.
The duo of Copas and Bhat fought back and forth with Kulicke and Hayward of the University of Texas at El Paso, but fell short 7-5 in the match.
The Lobos finish the Lobo Invite tomorrow.
