ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.—The University of New Mexico women’s tennis team opened up the Lobo Invite today at Linda Estes Tennis Center where they won all of their matches. The matches were held inside due to inclement weather.

In doubles play, the Lobos took on New Mexico State University today. Dominique Dulski is paired with Andrea LeBlanc, Emily Olivier with Sharon Coone, and Ruth Copas with Rachana Bhat.

In singles play, Olivier, LeBlanc, Dulski and Copas all took on opponents from Northern Arizona University while Coone took on players from the University of Texas at El Paso.

Olivier and Copas both battled in their singles matches today. Olivier took on Lodewijks from NAU. After losing the second set 4-6, she came back in the third 6-3 to clinch the win. Copas lost her first set to Granville, also of NAU, but came back in the second and third set, winning the match 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.

“Today was an exciting first day of the Lobo Fall Invitational,” said head coach Kelcy McKenna. “Given that our fall tournament is more of a team event, it gave us a great opportunity to play together and get a feel for what the dual match experience will be like. With three new players, this was a great way to begin our last event of the fall and simulate the match energy and competitiveness we will need to have in the spring.”

The Lobos continue tournament play tomorrow and Sunday.
