ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A pair of seniors, Cassie Ulrich from Rio Rancho, N.M. and Alyssa Coonrod from Albuquerque, N.M. have been honored by the College Sports Information Directors of America as both were named to the 2015 CoSIDA/Academic All-District VII Team.  Ulrich, who was named for the third consecutive season, was a first team selection at goalkeeper while Coonrod was a second team pick at midfield.

It marks the 10th straight year that the Lobos have had at least one Academic All-District honoree.  Ulrich, who is now the second Lobo women’s soccer player to earn the honor three straight years (joining Jael Fanning), earned her first nod on the first team, and as such she will advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America honors.  Ulrich is seeking to become just the fourth Lobo women’s soccer player to earn Academic All-America honors (Erchen Theys, 2002; Alexis Ball, 2009; Brooke Ellison, 2013).

Ulrich this season has a 9-7-1 record and a 0.96 goals against average with five clean sheets.  She has started 16 of 17 matches and has totalled 56 saves.

Coonrod has played both on the back line and in the midfield, and has a goal and an assist this season.  She scored UNM’s lone goal in a 2-1 loss to San Jose State, and she assisted on the only goal in a 1-0 win at Utah State.  The honor is her first CoSIDA honor.

Ulrich and Coonrod will be honored along with five other seniors on Friday night at 7 p.m. when the Lobos host San Diego State.
