LAS VEGAS, NV – The University of New Mexico women’s golf team will travel to their final competition of the fall season, the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown, hosted by UNLV.
“It will be a good finishing event for the fall and a good preview of Mountain West Conference teams,” said Lobo head coach Jill Trujillo.
The three day, 54-hole event will be played at the par-72, 6,277-yard Boulder Creek Country Club with live scoring provided by BirdieFire. Teams will play the front nine each day on the Desert Hawk course and back nine on the Coyote Run course.
“We’ve been playing well and Boulder Creek Golf Course is a good course where a lot of birdies can be made,” Trujillo commented. “We just need to continue our great focus and keep our minds in the moment.”
The Lobos are coming off a fifth place finish against a strong field at the Betsy Rawls Invitational last week. Currently ranked 24th in the nation by Golfstat, the Lobos hope to conclude their fall schedule with a big upset at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown.
“A head-to-head win against higher ranked teams will finish off the fall on a high note,” Trujillo explained.
The first round will begin on Sunday with a 12:00 p.m. shotgun start. The Lobos will be paired with Vanderbilt and UNLV for the opening round.
