ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – As the University of New Mexico baseball team’s fall practice schedule starts to wind down, the Lobos will host New Mexico Junior College for an exhibition game this Saturday, Oct. 24, at Lobo Field at 11 a.m. The game will be free and open to the public. It’s a chance for fans to see some of last year’s top performers, such as sophomore Carl Stajduhar and juniors Jack Zoellner and Danny Collier. It will also be a chance for fans to get their first glimpse at this year’s recruiting class, which features two-time Gatorade New Mexico Player of the Year Jared Mang as well as other great local talent like Austin Bell and Andrew Pratt of La Cueva and Austin Treadwell of Eldorado.
The game is a bit of a precursor for the annual Cherry-Silver Series, which begins the following Saturday. The Lobos will play five intrasquad games at Lobo Field as the coaching staff will make final evaluations on the 2016 roster. The Cherry-Silver schedule is as follows:
Saturday, Oct. 31 – 1 p.m.
Sunday, Nov. 1 – 1 p.m.
Tuesday, Nov. 3 – 6 p.m.
Wednesday, Nov. 4 – 6 p.m.
Thursday, Nov. 5 – 6 p.m.
Game times are tentative and scheduled to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances, so be sure to check the baseball schedule page at GoLobos.com for accurate game times each day.
