Tucson, Ariz.—The women’s tennis squad started the Wildcat Invitational in Tucson today. This is the third invitational the Lobos have competed in. Ruth Copas came out strong and won both of her singles matches today. Andrea LeBlanc also put up two singles wins on the first day.
Rachana Bhat battled in her singles match against Emelia Box of Northern Arizona University and came out on top, winning 6-3, 6-7 (5), 6-4.
In doubles play, the duo of Sharon Coone and Andrea LeBlanc defeated University of Texas at El Paso’s Lois Wagenvoort and Daphne Visscher 8-4. Copas and Bhat also competed together and won their doubles match.
The Wildcat Invitational continues through the weekend.
