ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.—The University of New Mexico men’s tennis team is expecting a new player in January with tournament wins under his belt. Kyryll Kryvchun just won the U18 ITF Junior Championship in Vancouver, Canada.
In the main draw of the tournament for singles play, he went through four rounds, 32 players, to clinch his spot in the final match. He faced off against Luka Vukovic of Canada and defeated him 7-5, 7-6 (2) for the title.
During his summer, Kryvchun picked up 6 ATP World Tour Ranking points. His current ATP ranking is 1313.
“We are happy for Kyryll, and excited he is playing solid tennis, while also trying to expand his game,” said head coach Bart Scott. “He played a lot outside of his comfort zone and said he felt really good about so that’s very encouraging as a coach to have a young player thinking on that level already.”
Kyryll Kryvchun signed with New Mexico back in June and he will be playing with the Lobos for the spring season.
