LeBlanc Advances to Quarters at ITA, Falls Short

Las Vegas, Nev. – The University of New Mexico women’s tennis team headed into the final days and matches of the prestigious ITA tournament. Third and fourth round doubles matches were played Friday as well as fourth round singles.
 
In the third round of doubles, Andrea LeBlanc and Rachana Bhat clinched a spot in the fourth round when they defeated Brianna Turley and Margo Pletcher of Utah University 8-6.  Their run was ended in the fourth round, however, when they came up short against Toby Miclat and Taylah Beckham of Brigham Young University. They lost by a match, 8-7.
 
The duo of Emily Olivier and Ludivine Burguiere suffered a tough loss in the third round of doubles against Aiwen Zhu and Paola Artiga of the University of Las Vegas. They lost 8-3.  
 
In singles play, Dulski and Copas both lost their matches against opponents from Denver University. The only singles player left in the tournament was LeBlanc. She defeated Tina Bokhua of Colorado University 6-4, 7-5. She went on to play Saturday Maureen Slatterly of Denver Univeristy and lost.

The Lobos’ next invitational will be hosted at home. The Lobo Inviational will take place on Oct. 30.
