New Mexico volleyball is holding its eighth-annual “Lobos Love Pink” match tomorrow as the Lobos play host to UNLV at 1 p.m. in Johnson Center.

The Lobos will wear pink jerseys in support of cancer awareness and will hold a silent auction benefiting the UNM Cancer Center. Fans are also encouraged to participate by wearing pink to the match.

“Tomorrow is our Dig Pink event,” UNM head coach Jeff Nelson said. “We do that every year. We raise a lot of money and when we do our event, the money goes right into our University Cancer Center.”

The silent auction features gift baskets with UNM gear, gift cards and other prizes, with all of the proceeds benefiting the UNM Cancer Center. New Mexico is also raffling off an iPad mini after the match.

Additionally, pink rally towels will be distributed to the first 300 fans, and $2 pink cotton candy will also be on sale.

The Lobo players are especially excited for the match, as they get the opportunity to raise awareness via volleyball.

“We always love big crowds, especially for Dig Pink games,” junior Cassie House said. “A lot of us feel passionate about it, especially for those of us who have had family members who have been affected by breast cancer.”
