Las Vegas, Nev.—The University of New Mexico women’s tennis squad started out perfect on their first day of the ITA Regional Championships and they carried some of that momentum on to day 2.

In singles play, the Lobos have three players advancing to the semifinals of the tournament. Andrea LeBlanc defeated Margo Pletcher of Utah 6-2, 6-1. She will face off against Tina Bokhua of Colorado. Dominique Dulski beat Sheila Morales of Nevada after battling three matches. She will go on to play Maureen Slattery of the University of Denver. Finally, Ruth Copas defeated Magdelena Stencel of Wyoming 6-2, 7-6 and she will go on to play Sonja Rodosevic of the University of Denver.

The lady Lobos also suffered some tough losses. Sharon Coone and Emily Olivier advanced to the round of 32 where they fell short against their opponents from Utah and Denver, respectively.  Ludivine Burguiere and Rachana Bhat both lost in the round of 64.

In doubles play, LeBlanc and Bhat won two matches to advance to the round of 16 where they will compete against a pair from Utah for a spot in the semifinals. Olivier and Burguiere also won two matches and face the same fate, but against an opponent from the University of Las Vegas.

The duo of Dulski and Coone faced off against Herrero and Gergilyova of Nevada, but fell short 8-2.
