ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of New Mexico men’s soccer team earned its fourth straight Team Academic Award from the NSCAA Wednesday by posting a 3.44 GPA during the 2014-15 academic year. It is the 12th time the Lobos have earned the award under head coach Jeremy Fishbein, and it is the highest team academic award a program can earn.
In order to earn the award, teams needed to post a GPA of 3.0 or better. The Lobos had one of the highest GPA’s in all of Division I men’s soccer, bettered only by Yale, Drake and Michigan State.
The Lobos earned Conference USA’s Academic Award for having the highest GPA in the conference last year. There were several individuals honored last season as well, most notable James Rogers being named the Lobo Club’s Male Student-Athlete of the Year, and Josh Dye being named an Academic All-American. The Lobos also had three players earn NSCAA Scholar All-America honors and three players named Academic All-Conference.
